PROJECT SUMMARY |

Brief description of the project and main objectives |
The primary objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity to address the health impacts of climate change in Türkiye. This includes improving preparedness, response and mitigation efforts for the adverse health effects caused by climate-related hazards such as extreme weather events and vector-borne diseases. |

Achievements / expected outputs / results |
Development of an environmental health intervention plan, a database and a draft response plan to mitigate the effects of climate change on human health. Establishment of a coordination mechanism between institutions for effective responses to extreme climate events. Implementation of pilot studies in selected provinces to test and refine methodologies for health interventions. Capacity building through the training of health professionals, including Health Impact Assessment training to evaluate health risks and ensure evidence-based policy making. Raising public awareness about the health impacts of climate change with a focus on mental and occupational health. |
