The primary objective of the project is to enhance Türkiye’s capacity to manage marine litter effectively. This involves developing technical, legislative, and institutional frameworks to reduce marine litter and its environmental impacts. |

Achievements / expected outputs / results |
Outputs: Assessment of legislative and institutional gaps and recommendations for improvement. Development of a national marine litter and plastics action plan aligned with international conventions. Creation of a monitoring software for tracking marine litter. Capacity building through training sessions, workshops, and study visits. Pilot implementation of "Zero Waste Blue" initiatives in three districts.
Results: Improved technical capacity for managing marine litter at national and local levels. Enhanced alignment with international marine litter reduction standards. Increased effectiveness of marine litter prevention and reduction actions. Greater awareness and involvement of stakeholders in marine litter management. |
