Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay participated in “The Monitoring and Steering Committee of Erasmus+ and ESC”

The first meeting of the Monitoring and Steering Committee of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programmes under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay was held at the Turkish National Agency on 25 July 2023.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay emphasized that EU Programmes contributed significantly to strengthening our cooperation with Europe and building the capacities of our sectors through mutual learning.

Ambassador Bozay pointed out that these Programmes, especially Erasmus+ and ESC, offer the cooperation eco-system in which our relations with the EU are the most active.

He underlined that since the establishment of the National Agency, by participating in the EU's programmes in the field of education and youth, a fund of  approximately 1,6 billion Euros were provided to more than 38 thousand participants in 20 years.

At the meeting, Director of the Turkish National Agency, İlker Astarcı informed the Committee members about the general practices of the National Agency. Monitoring and evaluation activities of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity programmes, statistics for 2023, work programs for 2024, calls for Erasmus+ decentralized and centralized projects, and promotion and information activities were discussed by the National Agency and Directorate for EU Affairs officials.

The representatives of members of the Committee as the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Presidency of Strategy and Budget, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of National Education, Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, Directorate for EU Affairs, Vocational Qualifications Authority, Turkish Employment Agency and Higher Education Council took the floor and made evaluations.

Erasmus+ and ESC Programmes Monitoring and Steering Committee is a consultation platform established with the participation of relevant Ministries and institutions to coordinate, monitor and evaluate the programmes with our country policies in the fields of education, youth, sports, volunteering and solidarity in order to ensure the effective implementation of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity programmes in our country.
