“The European Green Deal and EU–Türkiye Trade: Corporate Sustainability Regulations and Human Rights Impacts in Türkiye” Project Launched
The introductory meeting of “The European Green Deal and EU–Türkiye Trade: Corporate Sustainability Regulations and Human Rights Impacts in Türkiye” project, which is implemented by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) based in Sweden and in which the Directorate for EU Affairs (DEUA) participates as a partner, was held on 9 December 2025 at the DEUA premises.

Representatives from public institutions that would take part in the project activities—such as the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Ministry of Trade—attended the meeting.
On 8 December 2025, an opening event was organised at the Embassy of Sweden with the participation of public institutions and civil society organisations to mark the launch of the project.

The project, for which the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) has allocated a budget of 3 million Swedish Krona, is planned to be implemented between October 2025 and October 2026. The project is a pilot initiative to enhance the capacity of Türkiye’s public institutions to engage with the European Green Deal (EGD), focusing on corporate sustainability and the social dimensions of the green transition. The programme responds to increasing regulatory demands in EU-Türkiye trade relations, such as human rights due diligence, sustainability reporting, and green finance, by equipping public officials with the knowledge and tools needed to align with evolving EU frameworks. In addition to DEUA, Business and Human Rights Association Türkiye – BHRTR, participates as a partner in the project.
