The EU Civil Protection Mechanism online info day organized

An online information and experience sharing event was held on March 11, 2024, in order to announce and promote the calls to potential public and private institutions, NGOs and universities that are eligible to apply for the grant calls announced within the scope of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism for disaster prevention and preparation.

The event, which was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs, started with the opening speeches of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of European Union Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay and AFAD President Governor Okay Memiş.

Emphasizing the importance of Türkiye’s participation in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism since 2016, President of the European Union Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay underlined that both the Mechanism and the projects carried out under the Mechanism are very important tools of our solidarity with the EU. Ambassador Bozay stated that the strong synergy that currently exists between AFAD and the Directorate for EU Affairs for the effective use of these tools will continue in the coming period.

The programme continued by presentation of grant calls by relevant experts and sharing information and experience about the preparation processes and implementation of  projects carried out with the grant support of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism in previous calls. The event concluded with questions and answers session, and receiving comments and recommendations from the participants.

The EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which is the most important source of disaster and emergency response assistance provided by the European Union to Türkiye after the earthquake disaster that occurred on February 6, 2023, provides important support for disaster prevention and preparedness, as well as for intervention in disasters and emergencies.
