Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik Evaluated the Agenda in Canada

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik evaluated the agenda on the final day of the 9th Halifax International Security Forum held in Canada.

Stating that the Forum had been very productive, Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik emphasized such matters as relations with the US, the migrant issue and the Silk Road had been on the agenda. Minister Ömer Çelik said: “We saw that there were many statements that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, including Islam, and the two should not be expressed together. We welcome these statements.”

Minister Ömer Çelik said that the employee involved should be punished, regarding the “Hostility to Atatürk and Erdoğan” in the NATO manoeuvre. Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik underlined that there should be an investigation, which included questions regarding the chain of command.

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik said that they would follow up on the matter so as to prevent similar incidents from recurring and that it was very similar to methods employed by FETO.

Indicating that the matter would be investigated and measures taken, Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik said that the existence of FETO depended on damaging Türkiye and causing negative developments in Türkiye.

- "No financial impact on Türkiye"

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik said that they had heard that there would be 105 million euro cut in the funds allocated to Türkiye by the European Union (EU), although they had not yet received a notification regarding the cut.

Minister Ömer Çelik stated that the 105 million euro cut would not have a financial impact on Türkiye and said: “Those who have taken this decision will only have signed a decision that is bereft of vision.”
