Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Vienna to attend the Gymnich Meetings, 30-31 August 2018

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Vienna to attend the informal meeting of Foreign Ministers of the European Union (EU) member and candidate countries, also known as the “Gymnich meetings”, held on 30-31 August 2018.

On August 30, Thursday, Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the reception hosted by the President of Austria.

On August 31, Friday, views on regional and global developments were exchanged at the Gymnich meeting that brings together EU member and candidate countries.

Within the margins of the Meetings, Minister Çavuşoğlu participated in the session on “Effective Multilateralism”. At the session, Minister Çavuşoğlu stated the need to strengthen the vision of a united Europe that is the champion of multilateralism, peace and prosperity, and that Türkiye makes Europe and multilateralism stronger.

Following the session, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with his Dutch counterpart Stef Blok. Minister Çavuşoğlu and Minister Blok announced that the appointment of the Ambassadors will take place as soon as possible in line with the decision on normalization of Türkiye-Netherlands relations.

At the meeting held between Minister Çavuşoğlu and Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Simon Coveney of Ireland, the two Ministers agreed to improve bilateral economic and trade relations, and increase high-level visits.
