PROJECT SUMMARY |

Brief description of the project and main objectives |
The primary objective of the project is to align Türkiye’s climate policy framework with the EU Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) Directive. This includes preparing the groundwork for a national emissions trading system (ETS) to support Türkiye’s 2053 net-zero emission target. |

Achievements / expected outputs / results |
Outputs: Preparation of draft legislative documents aligned with the EU ETS Directive. Gap analysis and recommendations for the legal framework. Development of a roadmap for full harmonization with the EU ETS Directive. Creation of user handbooks and organization of training, study visits, and awareness activities.
Results: Türkiye will have a draft ETS framework ready for implementation. Enhanced capacity for implementing and managing an emissions trading system. Strengthened institutional ability to support decarbonization efforts in line with EU standards. |
