EU Minister Ömer Çelik condemned the terror attack in London

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik condemned the terror attack targeting London Bridge and Borough Market in London.

From his official twitter account EU Minister Ömer Çelik said, “We strongly condemn the London terror attack. My thoughts are with the victims. We stand united with the United Kingdom against all sorts of terror.”

Stressing that terrorist attacks in various parts of the world clearly show that everyone is under threat, EU Minister Ömer Çelik said “Kabul, Baghdad or the capital of a Western state is facing the same asymmetric threats and the terror is targeting the whole world!”

Minister Ömer Çelik has pointed out that there must be solidarity on the basis of a “non double-standard” approach including the ideological roots, for the fight against terrorism, and added that prohibition of travel to certain countries and language of humiliation on certain cultures will only serve terrorism.

Stating that discrimination among terrorist organizations and working together with some of them increase the ideological power of terrorism, EU Minister Ömer Çelik said “It is necessary to start with a principled approach against terrorism in order to establish the world of the future.”
