Türkiye-EU Summit was held on 7-8 March 2016 in Brussels

Türkiye-EU Summit was held in Brussels on 7 March 2016. Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu represented Türkiye at the Summit. Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu accompanied Prime Minister at the Summit. 

Prime Minister Davutoğlu came together with the Heads of State and Government of 28 EU member states as well as the Presidents of the European Council, European Parliament and European Commission at the Summit to discuss the irregular migration.

Prime Minister Davutoğlu holding a series of meetings with the leaders of EU member states ahead of the Summit first met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and EU Term President Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte at Türkiye’s Permanent Delegation to the European Union. Having a meeting with his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras, Prime Minister Davutoğlu also met with the leaders of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Following the conclusion of Türkiye-EU Summit in early hours of 8 March, Prime Minister Davutoğlu, EU Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker appeared before the press at a joint press conference. 

Within the framework of his visit to Brussels, Prime Minister Davutoğlu also met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
