Promoting Gender Equality in Education Project has been launched
Promoting Gender Equality in Education Project of Ministry of National Education has been launched in Ankara on 21 May 2015 by the Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı, Undersecretary of the Ministry for EU Affairs Ambassador Rauf Engin Soysal and the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the EU Delegation to Türkiye Mr Béla Szombati. The Project is supported within the context of Chapter 26: Education and Culture and funded under Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).
Project aims to support gender equality for girls and boys in schools and an equality- and gender-sensitive approach throughout the education system. Through this project the contribution to process of maintaining gender equality in schools and to help promote gender equality throughout society are expected.
After implementation of the project, guidelines and an assessment tool for teaching and non-teaching staff at schools will be available with the necessary capacity for implementation. Also, the capacity of the Ministry of National Education will be improved in order to promote equality and a gender-sensitive approach in the overall education system. This project will also increase students’, parents’, and teaching and non-teaching staff’s awareness of the need for gender equality in education through a media campaign and local actions.
