"Promoting Sustainable Fisheries In EU Standards Black Sea" Project

"Promoting Sustainable Fisheries In EU Standards Black Sea" Project of SS Abalı Village Cooperative of Fisheries Products, which has been funded under Civil Society Dialogue-II Project - Fisheries and Agriculture component and has a total budget of 130.951 Euros, was introduced to public with an opening meeting in Sinop on 29th July 2011. Salih Altınok, the Vice Governor of Sinop, Uğur Giresun, Chairman of the Provincial Council, Mehmet Ömürbek, Assistant Expert for EU Affairs from Ministry for EU Affairs, Ümit Aydın, Coordinator of the Sinop EU Project Center, NGOs and fishermen have attended the opening ceremony.

Project aims to create awareness of the EU Regulations and legislations on marketing and quality standards among the producers, sellers and consumers of the fishery products and other stakeholders in Sinop and Kastamonu, with the cooperation of NGOs in EU countries and in Türkiye.

In the framework of the Project, "Sustainable Fisheries Network" is expected to create a sustainable and long-term cooperation between Turkish and EU origined NGOs by organizing study visits to Romania and Latvia. In addition to study visits, there will be traning programmes and seminars for the organizations in fisheries sector and local administration.
