Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik participated in the opening ceremony of Zeytinli Secondary School
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik made a speech in the opening ceremony of Zeytinli Secondary School in Seyhan, Adana. Minister Çelik stated in his speech that new schools had been opened in many places in Adana, just as all over Türkiye, and said:
“In the past, there were frequently complaints about the scarcity of schools and teachers. Therefore, children had problems in accessing education. Now we are establishing centres of education and knowledge in all parts of Türkiye.”
Minister Çelik said that they were making all efforts for the education of girls so that they can become politicians, governors, and mayors, as well as business women, in the future.
Minister Çelik indicated that more resources were allocated to the education of girls through positive discrimination, and said:
"As you may well know, there were biases in various parts of Anatolia. Boys were sent to school but girls were not. In fact, more financial assistance was provided for families who educated their daughters. We know that this positive discrimination is a strategic priority for the future of our country. This is because a society in which women are not strong does not have a place in today’s world. We prioritised and will continue to prioritise the education of girls through positive discrimination.”
Following the speeches, Minister Çelik and Minister for National Education İsmet Yılmaz cut the ribbon and opened the school.
