Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı Attended the Information Seminar for Non-Governmental Organizations and Public Institutions
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı participated in the information seminar for non-governmental organizations and public institutions on 13 October 2021 within the scope of "Technical Assistance for Enhancement of TÜRKAK’s Capacity in Accreditation of Conformity Assessment Bodies" project which TÜRKAK is the beneficiary. In his opening speech, Deputy Minister Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı made an assessment over Türkiye-EU relations, the studies carried out in Türkiye in the field of conformity assessment, the Paris Agreement, the European Green Deal, and green transformation.
Ambassador Kaymakcı pointed out that Türkiye ranks 17th among 184 countries in terms of accreditation infrastructure development according to the Global Quality Infrastructure Index Program (GQII), which is an initiative for open data and knowledge on metrology, standardisation, accreditation, and related services. He also emphasized the importance of seeking TÜRKAK’s accreditation, especially in public procurement, legislation and regulation, and the necessity of not giving credit for illegal initiatives in this sense.
This project, with a total budget of 1.3 million Euros, aims to increase the technical capacity of the Turkish Accreditation Agency both in the European and international arena, in line with the new developments in the field of accreditation.
