Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı attended the closing event of the "Socioeconomic Development through Demining and Increasing the Border Surveillance Capacity at the Eastern Borders of Türkiye- Phase
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı attended the closing event of the 2012 IPA (Instrument for Pre-Accession) project entitled "Socioeconomic Development through Demining and Increasing the Border Surveillance Capacity at the Eastern Borders of Türkiye- Phase II" on 19 November 2019 in Ankara.
In the speech he delivered at the event, Deputy Minister Kaymakcı stated that the Project aims to save civilian lives, ensures better border surveillance and socio-economic development. Deputy Minister Kaymakcı also said that our hope is the elimination of anti-Türkiye political mines in our EU accession process, which should end with membership for the benefits of all.
The National Defense Ministry Mine Action Center is the beneficiary of the project, which has a total budget of 53.5 million Euros. Mine clearance in Ağrı Doğubeyazıt region was the main scope of the project. In addition, capacity development activities for the Turkish Mine Action Center were included.
