30th Anniversary of Erasmus+ Programme was celebrated in İzmir
The third event of 30th anniversary celebrations of the Erasmus Programme was held in İzmir by the Ministry for EU Affairs in collaboration with the Higher Education Council, the EU Delegation to Türkiye and the Turkish National Agency. Hosted by Ege University, the event welcomed students academicians, programme beneficiaries, representatives of NGOs and experts from local authorities in İzmir.
Deputy Undersecretary Ahmet Yücel underlined that Erasmus+ programme has been the best remedy against prejudices as it has brought millions of people together giving them a chance to learn about new cultures. Yücel pointed out that Erasmus+ programme reinforces mutual understanding between different societies, helps to break down the prejudices has gained even more importance today. He labelled incoming and outgoing Erasmus+ beneficiaries as “Erasmus+ Ambassadors of Türkiye” who shall undertake a mission to introduce Türkiye and Turkish people unbiased. Mr. Yücel also highlighted that Erasmus+ gives a wide point of view to beneficiaries and through this widened vision they will definitely get the chance to touch the future and that’s why Erasmus+ is utmost valuable Programme and it is important that Türkiye receives the maximum benefit from the Programme.
Additionally, Deputy undersecretary Ahmet Yücel, Christian Berger Ambassador, Head of EU Delegation to Türkiye Ankara and Director of Turkish National Agency Mesut Kamiloğlu visited İzmir ABİGEM’s E+ KA2 ECOLIVE project which aims to promote organic olive production training
The Erasmus + Programme has been enriching lives for the past 30 years. Türkiye has been successfully participating in the programme since 2004 and 427.000 Turkish citizens have benefited from the Programme till today.
