Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik Continued His Contacts in Adana

Continuing his contacts in Adana, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik visited the Kozan Chamber of Commerce as well as the city hospital, new stadium and courthouse under construction.

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik indicated in his speech during his visit to the Kozan Chamber of Commerce that the agenda in the last few days had been quite intense.

Reminding that for a long time the PKK, and most recently FETO,  have been taking refuge in Germany, Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik indicated that Türkiye’s criticism of Germany continued as the latter had not for years finalised the files submitted by Türkiye regarding the PKK.

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik also noted that racists and those antagonistic to migrants and to Islam attacked Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik said:

Despite these attacks on and malicious statements against Türkiye, we will not change our course of action. Türkiye will certainly strengthen the rule of law, democracy and freedom of expression, and will continue on its path while maintaining the balance between freedom and security. We see full membership to the EU as necessary for the interests of our country, but there can be no double standards here. The policies will work if there is an objective and equitable approach. Maintaining the freedom and security balance, and strengthening democracy in Türkiye also means strengthening the economy. It means that these investments are made everywhere in Türkiye. It means that these developments take place.”
