EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik’s remarks Regarding the Statements of EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn on Twitter
EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik criticized the statements of EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn on Twitter regarding his tweets after his meeting with HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş.
EU Minister Çelik stated on his Twitter account that he can not help but wonder who are the actors that should distance themselves from violence in Türkiye. Minister Çelik also asked to the EU Commission if the Commission consider Turkish State that runs legitimate fight against PKK terror and the bloody terrorist organisation PKK equal.
In a series of tweets Minister Ömer Çelik noted that the EU considers PKK as a terrorist organisation, on the contrary HDP rejects to do so. Minister Çelik asked how can HDP play a key role in this case and he added that if Türkiye apply same logic to fight against DEASH, then the coalition countries and DEASH should be considered equal actors.
EU Minister Çelik concluded his remarks by pointing out that this is not the proper way to stand by Türkiye in its fight against terror and EU should ask HDP to distance itself from PKK terror.
