Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik published the following statement on his twitter account underlining the victory of Türkiye's democracy after the failed coup attempt.

"Türkiye is a European democracy. It has always been and will remain so. Our people's democratic consciouness is so precious. Democracy emerged victorious out of a dark night in which Turkish people shined as stars by defending our democracy rule of law and freedoms. Democracy and rule of law are our fundamental values. Türkiye maintains its track in the civilized world in line with these guidelines. Traitors attacked on Türkiye with bombs & tanks. They've been defeated by our nation. Our struggle for democracy continues."
