Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik paid an official visit to Brussels

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik concluded his visit to Brussels on 28-30 June.

In Brussels, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik met with Christos Stylianides, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Dimitris Avramopulos, European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission and Manfred Weber, Chair of the European People’s Party (EPP) Group. Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik also got together with Didier Reynders, Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Within the framework of his visit to Brussels, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik attended the Türkiye-EU Intergovernmental Accession Conference to open Chapter 33  “Financial and Budgetary Provisions” to negotiations and thereafter its joint press conference.

Finally, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik met with Frans Timmermans, First Vice-President of the European Commission along with Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss the visa liberalization process.

Recent developments in Türkiye-EU relations, developments in the EU after the UK referandum, visa liberalization process and migration crisis were on the agenda of Minister Ömer Çelik’s meetings in Brussels.
