The European Union approved the Türkiye’s 2014 package of pre-accession assistance program amounting to EUR 1.9 billion

In its capacity as coordinator institution, the Ministry of EU Affairs (MEU), finalized Türkiye’s 2014 package of pre-accession assistance program to support reforms in our country. By this way, the projects/programmes attached to part of 1,96 Million Euros out of the 4.45 Billion Euros agreed for Türkiye Under IPA II (Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance 2014-2020) has been determined. The submitted programme was approved by the IPA Committee that is composed of representatives of the Member-States and will be executed after financing agreements to be signed.

Under the overall coordination of the MEU and  embracing the agreed views of public institutions, universities and the NGOs the programmes  covers a large scale policy area including  Democracy and Governance, Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights, Energy, Agriculture and Rural Development, Employment, Education and Social policies, Competiveness and Innovation, Transport, and Environment and Climate Action to fulfil the obligations stemming from Union membership by supporting progressive alignment with, implementation and adoption of, the Union acquis as well as to enhance capacity building for  the Turkish governmental and non-governmental institutions.

It is expected that the projects implemented in the framework of the Programme shall support the development of our country in various areas by contributing to the development of the civil society organisations, the increase in the employment of the women, young people and disadvantaged groups, fight against unregistered unemployment and support the SMEs.

Furthermore, infrastructure investments are also included in the Programming process. With these projects which are prepared in a cooperate manner, our Institutions will benefit from the above mentioned allocated funds in the fields of securing the necessary investment to ensure access to the clean drinking water for more people, the construction of the waste water and solid waste facilities, improvement of the railway networks and support for the sustainable urban transport.

Meanwhile, through the funds allocated for the rural development which is of great importance to Türkiye, various support mechanisms will be structured in the areas of agriculture, food, fisheries, organic agriculture, improvement of rural infrastructure and the establishment of producers' associations. Therefore businesses, farmers, cooperatives and producers’ associations which operate in these mentioned areas will be able to benefit from these funds.
