EU Minister Ömer Çelik attented the Informal Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU (Gymnich)

On 2-3 September 2016, Minister for European Union Affairs (EU) and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik concluded his visit to Bratislava, Slovakia, which holds the EU presidency, to participate in the Informal Meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers (Gymnich).

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik attended a dinner held for EU Member States and candidate countries by the Slovakian EU Presidency on 2 September, and on the morning of 3 September he met with the Foreign Affairs Ministers of EU Member States in a working breakfast in the special session on "Türkiye" and addressed the Ministers.


Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik participated in session "Fight against Terrorism and the Prevention of Radicalisation", in which all EU Member States and candidate countries attended.


Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik also met separately with the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the EU Commission Federica Mogherini and EU Commissioner for EU Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.


Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik exchanged views with his counterparts on the 15 July coup attempt, measures taken against FETÖ terrorist organisation, fight against terrorism, Türkiye-EU relations, migration crisis and visa liberalisation process, during and in the margins of the Gymnich Meeting.


Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik answered the questions of international press within the scope of Gymnich Meeting. Minister Ömer Çelik also evaluated the meeting and the agenda to the TRT News on live broadcast.
