Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır Joined the Closing Reception of the “Social Media and Minorities” Project
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır joined the closing reception of the “Social Media and Minorities” Project, which is implemented by the Yenikoy Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church and School Foundation, on Tuesday, 26 January 2016 in Ankara. The project is funded under the “Civil Society Dialogue-III Programme” which is co-funded by Türkiye and the European Union and implemented by the Ministry for EU Affairs.
The “Social Media and Minorities” Project is unique as it is the first EU funded project implemented by a community foundation in Türkiye. Further, it is aimed at fostering freedom of speech in social media, drafting legislation against discrimination and hate speech as well as highlighting the importance of social media for the social and communal participation of minorities.
Representatives of public authorities, embassies, parlamentarians, civil society organisations, journalists as well as many citizens belonging to different faith groups joined the event.
