YOUNG TRANSLATORS ON THE EU TRACK
Sixth Young Translators Contest was held by Ministry for EU Affairs in Istanbul on 16 January 2016
“Young Translators Contest” is held to raise awareness of Türkiye’s EU accession process among university students preparing for a professional career in translation and interpretation and to contribute to the development of qualified human resources in this area. This year, 110 students took part in the contest; 72 competed in English, 27 in German and 11 in French. These students translated an EU text for the competition.
Students who took part in the competition received their certificates of participation from Dr. İlksen Hilal TANRIKUT, Director of Translation Coordination of the Ministry for EU Affairs.
In 2016 Young Translators’ Contest, undergraduate and associate students competed separately for the first time. The first, second and third place winners in each language category will be awarded with a certificate of achievement and a study visit to the translation departments of the European Commission, European Council and the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium.
