Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Ambassador Volkan Bozkır received Kati Piri, Rapporteur for Türkiye

Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Ambassador Volkan Bozkır received Kati Piri, Dutch Member of the European Parliament from the S&D group and Rapporteur for Türkiye, at the İstanbul Ortaköy Office of the Ministry for EU Affairs.

European Parliament resolution on Türkiye Progress Report, which is expected to be adopted by the European Parliament in June, was discussed at the meeting. Minister Bozkır shared Türkiye's views concerning the draft resolution.

Minister Bozkır held a press conference following the meeting. At the press conference, Minister Bozkır underlined that the European Parliament resolution on Türkiye must be an objective document to contribute to improving Türkiye-EU relations. Minister Bozkır also stated that the European Parliament's resolution of 15 April on the events of 1915 was a grave historic mistake, that it was returned to the European Parliament as it was null and void for Türkiye and the Turkish nation. Minister Bozkır expressed that the European Parliament's resolution on Türkiye to be adopted in June will also be considered null and void and returned to the EP if the adopted text includes a reference to the EP resolution of 15 April.
