Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır completes his visit to Helsinki

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır carried out an official visit to Helsinki, Finland, on 25-26 February 2015, upon the invitation of Erkki Tuomioja, Finland's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the Helsinki visit, Minister Bozkır was received by Eero Heinäluoma, Speaker of the Finnish Parliament.

After meeting with Erkki Tuomioja, Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Minister Bozkır attended the working luncheon held in his honour by Minister Tuomioja. Minister Bozkir held a joint press meeting with Erkki Tuomioja, Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, following this luncheon.

Minister Bozkır also met with Lenita Toivakka, Finland's Minister for EU Affairs and Foreign Trade, during his Helsinki visit.

Minister Bozkır participated in sessions of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Committee on the EU in the Finnish Parliament and addressed members of the two Committees. He also met with Timo Soini, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Minister Bozkır attended the meeting organized by "Paasikivi Society", a think tank, and made a speech titled "Türkiye in Europe: Opportunities vs. Challenges".

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır met with Turkish citizens living in Finland in the Turkish Embassy to Finland. In addition, he met with the members of the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD) in Finland.

During the Helsinki visit, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Bozkır exchanged views on bilateral relations between the EU and Türkiye and between Finland and Türkiye, with particular reference to Türkiye's EU accession process.
