Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır Visited Washington, DC

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır paid a visit to Washington, DC on 3-6 February 2015.

Minister Bozkır attended the “National Prayer Breakfast” which has been organized each year by the US Congressmen with participation of the U.S. President and high level officials from other countries since 1953.

In order to discuss the potential impacts of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement (TTIP) on Türkiye, Minister Bozkır had official meetings with the U.S. Administration and Congress and also met with Co-Chair of Congressional Türkiye Caucus Steve Cohen within this scope. 

Minister Bozkır also met with William Keating, Co-Chair of Congressional TTIP Caucus.


Minister Bozkır also delivered a speech at the German Marshall Fund on the potential impacts of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement on Türkiye and on the Türkiye-EU Customs Union.  

During his visit to Washington, DC, Minister Bozkır also attended a reception held at the Turkish Embassy in Washington, DC with the participation of Turkish students and academics.

During his visit to Washington, DC, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır exchanged views on Türkiye's EU accession process with a focus on Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement negotiations as well as on Türkiye-EU relations and bilateral relations between Türkiye and the U.S.
