Ministry for EU Affairs discusses Türkiye’s New EU Communication Strategy with non-governmental organizations

Ministry for EU Affairs will host a Civil Society Dialogue Meeting on “Türkiye’s New Communication Strategy” on 26 November 2014, at Grand Cevahir Convention Centre in Istanbul with the participation of more than 1,000 representatives from nearly 400 non-governmental organizations.

At this meeting, NGO representatives, who contribute significantly to Türkiye’s transformation in the EU accession process, will have the opportunity to express their opinions and suggestions directly to Ambassador Volkan Bozkır, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator.

After expressing his thoughts on Türkiye’s New EU Communication Strategy and EU accession process, Minister Bozkır will exchange views with the participants in a sincere atmosphere at the meeting.

Moreover, regarding the funding of the projects to be carried out within the framework of Türkiye’s New EU Communication Strategy, presentations on financial assistance to be provided to NGOs within the scope of Erasmus+ Programme and EU Pre-Accession Assistance will be offered to participants.

Below is the programme of the meeting, which is a follow-up of “Dialogue with Non-Governmental Organizations Meetings” held periodically by the Ministry for EU Affairs for a stronger civil society and stronger Türkiye.

1. Informative Session on “European Union Funds and NGOs” (Ball Room 2)

Within the framework of EU Pre-Accession Financial Assistance, Türkiye will receive nearly 4.5 billion Euros in the term 2014-2020. 180 billion Euros of the fund will be allocated to the strengthening of civil society, civil society dialogue and also developing public-civil society dialogue. In the session, participants will be informed about opportunities, funds, and grants including HORIZON 2020 for NGOs, universities, private sector and local institutions.

 

2. Informative Session on “Erasmus+ Programme“ (Ball Room 1)

With the aim of connecting Turkish people of all ages with EU citizens under training and youth projects, Türkiye’s National Agency provided granted in the amount of more than 600 million Euros to 24 thousand projects in 2004-2013; and more than 300 thousand Turkish citizens in 81 provinces had the opportunity to participate in cooperation activities and study abroad.

Türkiye’s National Agency will present information about the recently re-named Erasmus+ Programme, which will allocate nearly 900 million Euros to Türkiye and also provide opportunities to study, train and volunteer in Europe in the term 2014-2020.
