Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır Visited Brussels

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır visited Brussels, Belgium, on 11-12 November 2014 to meet with EU officials.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır delivered an opening speech at the 75^th Meeting of the Türkiye-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee on 11 November 2014 with Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations. “EU accession is a strategic goal for Türkiye” said Minister Bozkır and added that reforms for Türkiye’s EU accession process would continue. Ambassador Volkan Bozkır also met with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission; Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations; Maros Sefcovic, Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of the Energy Union; Andrus Ansip, Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of the Digital Single Market; and Vytenis Andriukaitis,  Commissioner for Health and Food Safety.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır attended a working luncheon with Gianni Pitella, President of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır met with Özdil Nami, Foreign Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on 12 November 2014. He also attended a luncheon with the members of the European Parliament Friends of Türkiye Group.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır delivered a speech at the conference titled “Reinforcing Public Administration Reform in the Enlargement Process” organized by the European Commission on 12 November 2014. He also attended the opening ceremony of the Brussels Office of the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD).

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır discussed Türkiye-EU relations and Türkiye’s EU accession process at his initial meetings with the Members of the European Commission following the Commission’s assumption of its duties on 1 November  2014.
