Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır Visited Brussels

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır paid an official visit to Brussels on October 15-18, 2014.

Within the scope of his visit to Brussels, Minister Bozkır announced “Türkiye’s New EU Communication Strategy” to the public via a press conference held at the Permanent Delegation of Türkiye to the European Union on October 16, 2014 (Please click here for more information).

On the first day of his visit, Minister Bozkır met with Elmar Brok, Chairman of Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament (EP) and Stefan Füle, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy.

After the meetings, Minister Bozkır delivered a speech at the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the EP  and answered the questions of the Committee members.

Minister Bozkır also met with Artis Pabriks, Co-Chairman of the European Parliament’s Friends of Türkiye Group; Manolis Kefalogiannis, Co-Chairman of the Türkiye-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee and Manfred Weber, Chairman of the Group of the European People’s Party (EPP).

Minister Bozkır also delivered a speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

On the second day of his visit, Minister Bozkır met with Cecilia Malmström, European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Commissioner-designate for Trade; and Kati Piri, Member of the European Parliament (S&D) and European Parliament Rapporteur on Türkiye.

Minister Bozkır also met with Christian Danielsson, Director General for Enlargement at the European Commission, and with Luis Felipe de la Pena, Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia in the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Minister Bozkır also attended the conference themed “Europe’s Perception of Türkiye, Integration Problems of Turkish Society” organized by the İstanbul Aydın University and delivered a speech.
