Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Volkan Bozkır paid an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır paid an official visit to Berlin on October 13-15, 2014 upon the invitation of Michael Roth, Minister of State for EU Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.

On October 14, 2014 Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Volkan Bozkır attended the briefing given by Hüseyin Avni Karslıoğlu, Ambassador of Türkiye to Germany.

After the briefing Minister Bozkır met with Michael Roth, Federal Minister of State and attended the luncheon, given in his honour by Minister of State Michael Roth. Turkish artists, writers, actors/actresses, businessmen and academicians living in Berlin were also invited to the event.

Within the scope of his visit Minister Bozkır met with Philipp Missfelder, Foreign Policy Spokesperson of CDU/CSU, and with Christoph Heusgen, Advisor on Foreign and Security Policy to the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel.

Delivering a speech at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation themed “Türkiye-EU: Bilateral Relations and the Negotiation Process”, Minister Bozkır expressed his belief that the strong cooperation between Türkiye and Germany would contribute to Türkiye’s EU accession process.

Minister Bozkır also attended the dinner held for the 10^th anniversary of Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the guest of honour and delivered a speech.

On October 15, 2014 Minister Bozkır first met with Gerhard Schröder, former Chancellor of Germany.

After the meeting Minister Bozkır attended the luncheon, given in his honour by Hüseyin Avni Karslıoğlu, Ambassador of Türkiye to Germany.

Afterwards, Minister Bozkır met with Heiko Maas, Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection.

Within the scope of his programme, Minister Bozkır also attended the meeting of German Bundestag’s Committee on EU Affairs and delivered a speech.

Minister Bozkır then came together with German Bundestag’s German-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Group.

After meeting with Claudia Roth, Vice-President of the German Bundestag, Minister Bozkır finalized his visit.
