Protocol on Common Position and Cooperation in Türkiye's EU Accession and Customs Union Processes Signed

Volkan Bozkır, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, and Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Economy,  signed the “Protocol on Common Position and Cooperation in Türkiye's EU Accession and Customs Union Processes between Ministry for European Union Affairs and Ministry of Economy"

Cooperation between the two Ministries respectively responsible for Türkiye-EU relations and economy policies is of utmost importance in terms of "Türkiye's New EU Strategy" which mainly aims at achieving the EU standards in all areas through an accelerated reform process, determining priority issues related to the negotiation chapters and implementing a strong communication framework that reveals the meaning and potential of Türkiye-EU cooperation.

In this framework, Volkan Bozkır, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator and Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Economy met in the Ministry of Economy on 9 September 2014 in order to evaluate Türkiye-EU relations and determine the future steps.  Within the scope of Türkiye's EU membership perspective, the Ministers agreed to further enhance the cooperation and coordination between the two Ministries and sign a protocol in this regard.

Within this framework, Volkan Bozkır, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, and Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Economy, signed today the "Protocol on Common Position and Cooperation in Türkiye's EU Accession and Customs Union Processes between Ministry of European Union Affairs and Ministry of Economy" as a manifestation of the advanced level of interinstitutional cooperation.
