The Agreement on the Participation of Türkiye in “Horizon 2020” was signed

The agreement on the participation of Türkiye was signed by Ahmet YÜCEL, Acting Undersecretary of Ministry for EU Affairs and Robert Jan SMITS, Director-General of Research and Innovation of the European Commission during the “National Launch Event” in İstanbul on 4^th June 2014.

The Agreement will enable our researchers, SME’s, universities, municipalities and research centres the opportunity to benefit from a budget of 80 billion Euros.

The Programme will be among the main instruments for the EU to reach 2020 goals and will cover: excellent science, industrial leadership and societal challenges.

The Programme will mainly encourage participation of industry and SMEs with the aim of bringing the research results to market and coupling research to innovation and will support applicants through the dedicated calls on: ICT, bio-technology, space, innovation in SMEs, health and demographic change, food security, sustainable agriculture and forest, marine and marine research, bio-economy, energy, transport, climate, environment, raw materials.

Turkish researchers will participate in the actions of the Programme on the same terms as for the researchers from the Member States.
