Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu Visits Strasbourg

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Strasbourg on April 7-8, 2014. Within the scope of his visit, Minister Çavuşoğlu first met with Nils Muiznieks, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights. After the meeting Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

Afterwards, Minister Çavuşoğlu visited the Strasbourg Office of The All Industrialist and Businessman Association (TÜMSİAD). 

Minister Çavuşoğlu was awarded as the Honorary President of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and received his honorary presidential diploma and medal from Anne Brasseur, the President of PACE.

In the second day of his visit to Strasbourg, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Anne Brasseur, the President of PACE. After the meeting Minister Çavuşoğlu came together with Gianni Buquicchio, the President of the Venice Commission.

Within the framework of his visit, Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Sasykbaeva Asiya, Vice Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Lastly, Minister Çavuşoğlu watched the debate and voting on granting “Partner for Democracy” status to the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic in the PACE plenary session and attended the Ceremony for The Council of Europe Museum Prize for 2014 which has been awarded to the Baksı Museum in Bayburt province of Türkiye.

On April 9, 2014 Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Pavlo Petrenko, the Justice Minister of Ukraine in a working breakfast in Strasbourg.
