The Seventh Training Seminar of the Judiciary and Fundamental Rights Project was held in Trabzon

The training programmes of “Learning the EU Chapters: Judiciary and Fundamental Rights Project” which is supported by the British Embassy under the Reuniting Europe Programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Union of Turkish Bar Associations were finalized in Trabzon.  The seventh training seminar was organized with the participation of the Minister for EU Affairs and The Chief Negotiator Mr. Egemen BAĞIŞ, Minister of Justice Mr. Sadullah ERGİN, Governor of Trabzon Mr. Abdil Celil ÖZ, British Ambassador Sir David REDDAWAY, Ministry for EU Affairs Deputy Undersecretary Dr. Mehmet CANGİR, Deputy Director of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations Ms. Berra BESLER,  Ministry for EU Affairs Director for Political Affairs Ege ERKOÇAK President of the Trabzon Bar Mr. Mehmet ŞENTÜRK.

Although the aim of the project is to reach 350 lawyers in 7 pilot provinces via the trainings on EU judiciary practices with a focus on fundamental rights, the actual number of lawyers are much higher than the targeted level. After the seventh programme in Trabzon, approximately 500 lawyers have trained within the scope of the project. The lawyers will also have the opportunity to examine the EU practices in the area and to establish network with their colleagues in the UK through a study visit, and also through a handbook and website prepared specifically for the area of justice and fundamental rights.
