Regional TAIEX Seminar on Domestic Violence and Violence Against Women

The TAIEX Regional Seminars on Domestic Violence and Violence Against Women, organised through the cooperation of the Ministry for EU Affairs and European Commission TAIEX Unit is held in İzmir Crowne Plaza Hotel, between 14-15 June 2013.

The seminar is organised with the aim of sharing the latest developments regarding the field of fight against domestic violence and violence against women with regard to justice and home affairs, thus increasing the current awareness among all participants ranging from experts, academics and representatives of relevant public institutions and NGOs.

The opening speeches of the conference are delivered by Deputy Undersecretary of Ministry for EU Affairs Dr. Mehmet Cangir, District Governor of Konak Ahmet Önal and Head of Department at the Ministry of Family and Social Policies Zekeriya Ertaş.

Deputy Undersecretary of Ministry for EU Affairs Dr. Mehmet Cangir pointed out that as works related to human rights institutionalizing in Türkiye have been continuing, concrete results should be expected to emerge by democratizing the smallest unity of the society, namely family since respect and dialogue among the family unit would enhance democracy standardization in Türkiye. Dr. Cangir also added that efforts through raising awareness across rural areas of the country have been increased especially in the last 3-4 years through the directions of the Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bağış.
