President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy’s Visit to Türkiye
President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy paid an official visit to Türkiye on May 23, 2013. Within the scope of his visit in Ankara, Herman Van first met with President Abdullah Gül. The meeting was followed by a working luncheon hosted by President Gül in honour of Herman Van Rompuy.
After the working luncheon, Herman Van Rompuy delivered a speech at The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB).The European Council President lastly held a meeting with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. After a holding a joint press conference, Herman Van Rompuy attended the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Erdoğan in his honour. Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış accompanied the President of the European Council throughout his whole visit.
