Egemen Bağış hosted EU Commissioner Laszlo Andor

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış hosted Commissioner Laszlo Andor, the member of the European Commission responsible for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, to discuss the developments regarding Chapter 19 “Social Policy and Employment”. 

In the meeting in which recent legislative developments regarding the enhancement of the trade union rights within the scope of the first opening benchmark of the Chapter of Social Policy and Employment and negotiation process were discussed, Minister Bağış expressed his expectation for opening of the Chapter 19 to the negotiations.

Bağış stated that Türkiye’s efforts in 2012 regarding the enhancement of the unions rights should be realized by the EU and as a consequence the 19^th Chapter should be opened to negotiations. Bağış mentioned that opening of the Chapter would urge Türkiye’s for the continuation of the improvements in the field as well.
