The Fifth Training Seminar of the Judiciary and Fundamental Rights Project
“Learning the EU Chapters: Judiciary and Fundamental Rights Project”, which is supported by the British Embassy under the Reuniting Europe Programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Union of Turkish Bar Associations, is continuing. Its fifth training seminar was realized with the participation of the Governor of Kastamonu Mr. Erdoğan BEKTAŞ, Ministry for EU Affairs Deputy Undersecretary Mr. Dr. Mehmet CANGİR, the Rector of Kastamonu University Prof. Dr. Seyit AYDIN, President of the Kastamonu Bar Mr. Mehmet ÇİFTCİ, and the Representative of the British Embassy Ms. Louise TAYLOR.
The aim of the project is to reach 350 lawyers in 7 pilot provinces via the trainings on EU judiciary practices with a focus on fundamental rights, but the actual number of lawyers appears to be going to be much higher than the targeted level. The lawyers will also have the opportunity to examine the EU practices in the area and to establish network with their colleagues in the UK through a study visit, and also through a handbook and website prepared specifically for the area of justice and fundamental rights.
