The Project "Turkish Local Media on the EU Path" Restarted with Afyonkarahisar Seminar

The project titled "Turkish Local Media on the EU Path", which is conducted by the Ministry for EU Affairs under the auspices of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and also supported by the British Embassy in Ankara, restarted in Afyonkarahisar on January 14, 2013.

Undersecretary of the Ministry for EU Affairs Ambassador Haluk Ilıcak, who presented a speech during the opening of the seminar, emphasized that the EU accession process concerns all sections of society: "Throughout this project, our main aim is through strengthening the communication network between the local media members and our Ministry, provision of information that helps you to follow Türkiye's EU accession process more closely and to ensure that you will be involved as an actor in this process."

Besides Ministry for EU Affairs, the representatives of Afyonkarahisar Governship, Office of the Prime Minister – Directorate General of Press and Information, Diplomatic Correspondents' Association (DMD), Economic Journalists Association (EGD) and Afyonkarahisar Journalists Association also participated in the seminar.

The seminar organized with the participation of the local media representatives from the cities of Afyonkarahisar, Ankara, Bilecik, Eskişehir, Kırıkkale, Kütahya, Uşak will last for two days. The participants would be informed about Türkiye's EU accession process and the daily effects of the studies conducted within this process. Also they will obtain information about the projects and programmes directed towards media.
