Ireland Takes Over Presidency of Council of European Union
Ireland took over the six-month rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union from on January 1, 2013.
Irish presidency will focus on strengthening the banking system, combating with youth unemployment, Common Agricultural Policy, Common Fisheries Policy, reinforcing the digital economy, relations between the United Nations and the European Union, securing stable financial system within the Union and policies on humanitarian aid.
