Cooperation Protocol between Ministry for EU Affairs and Macedonia Secretariat for European Affairs
Ministry for European Union Affairs and Republic of Macedonia Secretariat for European Affairs signed a Protocol to enhance mutual cooperation on issues concerning the European Union process. The Cooperation Protocol was signed between Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış and Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Teuta Arifi, on November 16, 2012 at İstanbul Office of the Ministry for European Union Affairs.
In the framework of the Protocol, the Parties aim to share experience and knowledge on the European Union accession process through staff exchange, common projects, study visits and training programs.
Türkiye is the first state who acknowledges Macedonia as a “nation” and with its constitutional name. Macedonia which is an EU candidate state since 2005, has not been able to start accession negotiations because of the name dispute with Greece.
