2012 Annual Conference of the Joint Operational Programme “Black Sea Basin 2007-2013” launched in Moldova

Annual Conference of the Joint Operational Programme “Black Sea Basin 2007-2013” launched in Chisinau, Moldova with the participation of representatives from Programme Countries (Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Türkiye and Ukraine), European Commission, Project Beneficiaries and other national and international organizations active in the Black Sea Basin. The Turkish delegation composed of the representatives of the Ministry for EU Affairs, Ministry of Development, Central Finance and Contracts Unit, National Info Point of Karabük, İstanbul University (as the project beneficiary) and Central Fisheries Research Institute in Trabzon (as the project beneficiary) attended the event, headed by the Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry for EU Affairs Mr. Ahmet YÜCEL. 

The conference will continue for two days on 18-19 September 2012, and it aims at presenting the latest developments in implementation and the future of the Black Sea Basin Programme, discussing the future of the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) as well as building networks and synergies between the stakeholders in the Basin.

Speaking on behalf of Türkiye in the first day of the Conference, Deputy Undersecretary Mr. Ahmet YÜCEL underlined the contribution of the Programme to Türkiye and other countries in the Basin and cooperation opportunities in the region. In his speech, he also emphasized the importance of some cooperation initiatives in the region, particularly the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, along with Türkiye’s efficient and steady and active participation will. Besides, Mr, YÜCEL emphasized the difficulties of the procedures regarding for cross border cooperation programmes which have limited budgets and he proposed the simplification of procedures.
