Egemen Bağış Attended Türkiye-EU Joint Advisory Committee Meeting
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış participated in the Türkiye – EU Joint Advisory Committee Meeting (JAC) organized under the motto “Communicating Türkiye: The Image of Türkiye and Its EU Accession” in Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology in Berlin. Delivering a speech, Minister Bağış touched upon the issue of visa exemption and underlined that a historical step has been taken concerning visa requirements and the desired result is to be achieved soon. Giving brief information about Türkiye’s EU accession process, Minister Bağış addressed prejudices as the biggest barrier ahead of this process and stressed the importance of negotiations between governments and parliaments. He further emphasized the role non-governmental organizations and stated that the communication among citizens make the greatest contribution to Türkiye’s EU membership.
Within the margins of his official visit in Germany, Minister Bağış also met with Gunther Krichbaum, the Chairman of German Parliament’s European Affairs Committee.
