Intercontinental Nordic Walking was held on the Bosphorus Bridge
“Intercontinental Nordic Walking” organized by The Ministry for EU Affairs, Estonian Embassy, Governorship of İstanbul and İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality was held on 6 May 2012 on the Bosporus Bridge between 8.30-10.00 a.m. The Nordic Walking during which the walkers received support from the poles, started from the tolls in the Anatolian side and finished at the Beşiktaş-Yıldız junction in the European Side.
The Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış, Estonian Foreign Affairs Minister Urmas Paet, the Governor of the İstanbul Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, the Mayor of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Kadir Topbaş and representatives of foreign missions attended the walking.
Minister Bağış made a speech before the walking and stated that this activity taken place on the Bosporus Bridge symbolizing the role of the Türkiye as a bridge between East and West, best indicated the unifying role of both our country and the sport.
