Egemen Bağış Hosts Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye Ambassador Jean Maurice Ripert

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış hosted Ambassador Jean Maurice Ripert, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye on April 30, 2012.

Minister Egemen Bağış and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Stafan Füle will meet on May 17 and make the opening session of the Positive Agenda initiated with the European Commission. Egemen Bağış said that they came together to address this issue with Ripert.

French President Nikolas Sarkozy claimed that “Türkiye is not able to join the EU” and these words were asked to Minister Bağış. Minister Egemen Bağış stated that Türkiye’s growth statistics have shown that she is eligible to join the EU. Bağış added that in terms of ability and qualification, Türkiye was in front of many EU member states.
