“İstanbul Preparing for the EU" Project Protocol Ceremony

First agreements are signed for “İstanbul Preparing for the EU Project” developed under the framework of “Provinces Preparing for the EU Programme II-Support for Regional Projects Component” within the cooperation of the Ministry for EU Affairs, İstanbul Governorship, İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Union Municipalities of Türkiye.

The protocol ceremony is held on the 26^th of April 2012, in İstanbul Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Centre with the participation of Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış, Governor of İstanbul Mr. Hüseyin Avni Mutlu and İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and the President of the Union Municipalities of Türkiye Mr. Dr. Kadir Topbaş.

At the meeting, after the openning speeches, the protocol ceremony is held and a cocktail is organized. At his speech Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış stated that the importance of the Project.

Within the project planned for two years an expert/assistant expert will be assgined for the 39 districts of İstanbul in order to assist to the EU activities. Furthermore, training programme on “EU Accession Process and AB Hibe Programları”, a “Town Twinning Programme”, an international symposium titled “Local Governments in Türkiye on EU Process”, Europe Day Activities on 9 May, “EU Project Award” and “The Best Project of İstanbul Competition” will be organized. Besides these activities booklets titled “EU Projects in İstanbul”, “Fundamental EU Terms”, and “Local Governments in Türkiye on EU Process” will be published.
