The Closing Ceremony for the Project “The Capital Unites on the Path to the EU” and the First Provincial EU Advisory and Steering Committee Meeting of the Year 2012 of Ankara
A closing ceremony has been held on 10th April 2012 in order to present and disseminate the outputs of the project entitled “The Capital Unites on the Path to the EU” which is supported within the scope of the “Provinces Preparing for the European Union Programme” by the Ministry for EU Affairs. Additionally, this meaningful event is coupled with the first Provincial EU Advisory and Steering Committee meeting of the year 2012 of Ankara.
The meeting has commenced with the speech of Provincial EU Permanent Contact Point Deputy Governor Dr. Şentürk UZUN. In his speech, Dr. UZUN has summarized the outputs of the project “The Capital Unites on the Path to the EU”.
Afterwards, the Undersecretary of Ministry for EU Affairs Ambassador M. Haluk ILICAK has given his opening speech in which he explained the support provided by the Ministry for EU Affairs for EU related studies at the local level. Ambassador ILICAK also gave information on the current situation of Türkiye-EU accession negotiations and said “We attach great importance to EU process. EU process is essential in terms of improving our people’s life standards”.
The last speech of the meeting has been given by the Governor of Ankara Alâaddin YÜKSEL. In his speech, YÜKSEL emphasized that a significant awareness has been raised about EU issues in Ankara due to the project “The Capital Unites on the Path to the EU” and said “Regardless of the results in the Türkiye-EU relations sustained with persistency and patience, the capital Ankara is going to keep on walking on the civilization road which is an indispensible part of the Turkish Republic.”
