Egemen Bağış Met with the Representatives of the Local Media in Şanlıurfa

The project titled "Turkish Local Media on the EU Path" is executed by the Ministry for EU Affairs under the auspices of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağıþ. Project is also supported by the British Embassy in Ankara. The seventh regional informational seminar of the project takes place in Þanlıurfa between November 16-17, 2011.

Minister Bağıþ who presented a speech during the opening of the seminar stated that Türkiye's EU membership can be an opportunity for the world peace. Throughout the history, many nations and cultures have lived peacefully in Þanlıurfa, Minister Bağıþ added. "Therefore, within Türkiye's EU accession process, the seminar is carrying Þanlıurfa's message to Europe. With the help of Þanlıurfa, we will remind EU's core values to the Europeans once again", he concluded.

The seminar organized with the participation of the local media representatives from the cities of Þanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Hakkâri, Kahramanmaraþ, Kilis, Mardin and Þırnak will last for two days. The participants would be informed about Türkiye's EU accession process and the daily effects of the studies conducted within this process. Also they will obtain information about the projects and programs directed towards the media. The seminar participated by the EU experts aims to provide information that helps attendees to follow Türkiye's EU accession process more consciously and closely.
