Meeting of the Committee of the Regions Türkiye Working Group Took Place in Antalya

The French President of the Working Group Bernard Soulage emphasized Türkiye's EU accession process proceeds slowly and underlined the negative stand of the Turkish public opinion towards the EU.

Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry for EU Affairs Ahmet Yücel said that EU accession has been a state policy for Türkiye, this process should not be blocked by political concerns and that EU standards would raise living standards of the Turkish public at large.

Mr. Yücel emphasized that no new chapter has been opened in the last two presidencies and stated political obstacles should be eliminated. He added: "EU accession process is crucial to us. This process is beneficial not only to Türkiye, but to the EU countries as a whole. That is why, EU should act in order to ensure accession process blocked by political concerns of some member states continues smoothly."
